2009 Macsim Sydney To Surfers Bike Ride

G’day Riders

Well, its just over a week till the start of the ride and there are a few things that we need to bring to your attention.

Immediate

Ride Fee: If you have not yet deposited the $1500 cut off amount, the balance of your ride fee of $840 must be paid before the start of the ride. Remember if you subsequently reach $2340 ($1500 plus the ride fee of $840) the $840 will be refunded

Raffle Tickets: These must be returned immediately either to the Club at PO Box 54 Engadine 2233 or to Ken Robinson at 15 Copeland Rd., Engadine.

Do not post them after Tuesday 1st April (unless by express post) or they may not reach us for the draw.

Do not send back your receipt books or deposit books until requested to do so just before the presentation dinner

Saturday 5th April

Start: The start will be from the car park of Hornsby TAFE in Jersey Street, Hornsby on the west side of the Railway Station.

There is no entry to the car park from the Old Pacific Highway. Assembly time is 7a.m. As it will still be daylight saving time until 2 a.m. Sunday, that means 6 a.m. Queensland time.

You should report to Kevin Stuart to log in and you will be given a name tag for your luggage.

If you are not camping, this will need the name of the accommodation that you are staying at each night to be entered before it is put in the truck.

We will call and pick up luggage at the Ascot Motor Inn and the Blue Gum Inn at about 6.30 am

Please retrieve it and attach the luggage label supplied at check in

Route Change:

For those of you who have taken details of the route from our web site there are a couple of small alterations (we’ll be editing the web site in 2 secs):-

1. A slightly different route through Wallsend on Day 2 - make a right hand turn at the roundabout past Thomas St., and follow the signs to Sandgate

Lunch at Karuah is again on the right hand side of the bridge - turn right at the traffic lights and then left to the lunch site and

2. Day 5 approaching Coffs Harbour from Sawtell Road, at the turn to Coffs Harbour at Hogbin Drive go left at the roundabout and immediately turn right onto the cycle track.

At the end of the cycle track, rejoin Hogbin Rd., go straight through two roundabouts and turn right at the Orlando St. roundabout to Coffs Harbour Jetty and proceed about 500 metres to turn right to morning tea next to the Porpoise Pool.

3. The ride will end at the Crown Hotel/Motel in the centre of Grafton rather than at the Gateway Village and will leave from the Services Club car park the following morning.

4. Day 6 we will leave from the bowling club car park on the final morning.

5. The ride will end at Seaworld car park on the Friday Afternoon

Final Dinner

The final Dinner this year will be at the Southport Sharks Football Club Musgrave Ave., Southport and final numbers will be taken on the Monday or Tuesday night of the ride.

Riders have their fee included in their ride fee but guests are $40 a head with children under 12 being $10.

It will give you a good insight as to what the ride is all about from a riders perspective..
